Framed insect displays
These exotic framed insect displays, hand-crafted in Peru by native peoples, are lovely examples of Nature's beauty. They are mounted against a back glass (not just pressed against a cotton background) in quality, lightly stained, wood frames. In this way while the tops may normally be displayed the undersides are also available to be viewed. The photo below is one example of our small insect displays; each has the same positioning of the different sized insect specimens. Each display contains a variety of amazing and beautiful giant South American insects and a large tarantula. Insects may include Rhinoceros type beetles, Harlequin Beetles, Giant Grasshoppers and Cicadas and many other species. The rich and irridescent colors, delicate underwings and rich glossy outer wings are breathtaking in person and can't be appreciated in any photo. It may surprise you to learn that butterfly farming and insect collecting actually help the Earth's ecology since it allows local people to raise butterflies to support their families, giving them an incentive to maintain the rain forests and jungles! Butterflies live only a week or two and mate immediately after emerging from their chrysalis. The female lays eggs as quickly as possible on the plant preferred by the species - if those plants are kept available! By supporting these farming efforts the land can be kept profitable for the locals without the need to resort to drastic deforestation or industrialization. All these sets are all handmade in Peru and each is a one-of-a-kind creation. Buy with confidence, each display comes with a care sheet to help ensure the beauty will last for years and years to come. Product variations As will any one-of-a-kind or handmade art there will be variations between products. We cannot identify what species are included in each arrangement so we are unable to include or reject arrangements based on the Latin names of insects or butterflies in your collection or on your want list.
